Affordable Forklift Instruction & Manual Handling

We offer on site company training, or off site training for private individuals at one of our training facilities for most forklift types.

Accredited & Registered Instruction

Health & Safety Approved Training

We offer the highest standards of training but at sensible daily rates.

No matter if your company is small, medium or large, your training will be delivered to the highest standards every time.

Why Are We Different?

  1. We have our instructors monitored by a health & safety recognised and accredited company to ensure constant levels of training are delivered.
  2. At the end of every assignment our customers are asked to fill in a brief questionnaire as to the standard of training delivered, the general attitude and appearance of the instructor and what standard of training level they feel they have attained i.e. fair, good, very good or excellent.
This is our own way of monitoring, so that we know our instructors deliver 1st class training every time.
  3. We try very hard, with the occasional nervous trainee, to make sure they always pass their forklift test and, free of charge, offer them the opportunity to take a further two tests if needed at the end of training to get them through.
  4. Upon request, we can offer you referrals of up to two companies that you can phone directly to assure yourself that you are choosing the correct company to train your employees to operate highly dangerous materials handling equipment.

Manual Handling Training

We can train up to 3 trainees per day on all forklifts

Refresher Courses
For Pre Certificated Operators take only 1 day.

Experienced Trainees
Classed as having some basic knowledge of operations, but never trained or certificated take 2 to 3 days only.

Complete Novices
Obviously these trainees take longer to train and will take 3 to 5 days to qualify, to be safe to Certificate. It is strongly advised by us, especially if the trainee has no car driving experience, that novices learn counterbalance truck first, before Reach Truck. This is because a reach trucks steering is of an opposite direction to conventional counterbalance steering and the reach mechanism can cause problems to novices.

Indoor Elevated Work Platforms and Scissor Lift

This training can be Certificated in one day, Maximum 4 trainees.

Manual Handling Courses

These courses are recomended to have no more than ten people on any one course. The Course takes half a day, to a full day depending on length of question and answer time, and types of goods that need Manual Handling Training to be instructed.

Training

Below is a brief Structure of TRADEtrucks A.F.I. Forklift Training Courses, and some requirements to be organised by the companies we visit, and information as to why the theory training is as important as the driving of a forklift.

All pens, note paper and other needed stationary are supplied byTRADEtrucks  All we ask of our customers whenever possible, is to make sure before our arrival, that the following criteria is applied, to ensure that the trainees have a comfortable environment to learn.

  1. That as quiet an area as possible is supplied for the theory training only
  2. That enough chairs and a table large enough is supplied for the ammount of trainees and the instructor
  3. That the room or area supplied for theory training only is warm enough to ensure trainee concentration. This training takes approximately 2-3 hours maximum

NB. If any instructor delivers his theory traing in under 2-3 hours then the content will be inadequate and usually of a poor standard, this would be a hint that the operating safety and all round observational techniques that need to be observed before any driving is done, would be lacking.

It is important to remember that you are paying for your course, and that the theory of forklift operations is equally as important as the driving operations and stacking that need to be learned. In our experience, if the theory training is shortened, then the practical driving side may also be cut short. Your safe forklift operations are now more important than ever, as insurance companies have now started to not pay out, if forklift operator negligence and or no adequate training was supplied. You have a legal obligation to your employees, and visitors alike, to make sure they are safe in the workplace and that every effort has been made to give your staff Adequate & Sufficient Training wherever needed.

TRADEtrucks do not miss any part of the forklift training that is recomended under the H & Safety Guidlines L117.

No matter if you have been operating a forklift for 30 years or 30 minutes, your training will consist of.

  1. An explanation as to the 1974 Health & Safety work act, which should be displayed in all work places
  2. The 1850 factories act, the first of it’s kind, and the massive affect it had for children at work and strangely the leisure industry?
  3. The forklift operators safety code, 3a, modern DVD training, 3b, Pictorial evidence of the tragic accidents that happen every day
  4. An explanation of FORKLIFT STABILITY and the FULCROM POINT & PIVOT POINTS,dependant upon truck type
  5. Chalk and talk board theory, 5b, twenty five theory and multiple choice questions
  6. The Theory test itself which should take trainees approx 20 minutes although longer is given to complete it if needed
  7. A daily pre use forklift check sheet awareness and demonstration test
  8. A thorough explanation of forklift safety,to include correct ways to get on and off truck, the good and bad side of truck, proper park position and travel position and reasons for this.Emergency stops, operator position, to prevent the mouse trap scenario of a truck tipping sideways.Where it is safe and not safe to leave a forklift. The important 3 point turning procedure of observation, a forks and behind de- stack procedure, risk areas, such as pedestrian movement, customers talking to you while you are operating, road and industrial estate traffic area dangers.Racking and high level stacking operations, lorry loading and de-loading. Lorry and van driver positioning and lorry safety procedures when forklifts are loading and de-loading. How to easily enter pallets at high and ground levet first time with no corrections needed. Distances of stacking from walls etc and the 3 main reasons for this.Left and right hand turns loaded and unloaded. Reversing loaded an unloaded.
  9. An easy understanding of the driving test that is set for your particular work place
  10. If required, two further tests free of charge, to calm any first time nerves, or silly mistakes that can easily be rectified, with a calm explanation of how the trainee can pass the test by reminding themselves of the training that has been learned.

There are many more TRADEtrucks. tips and explanations during your training, that all operators will find useful.

Our Senior Trainer, was for many years an operator himself in Cash & Carrys across London, so he knows the type of pressure and work situations that can arise on a daily basis. Many forklift instructors have had very little real operational experience, and they will often shy away from awkward high stacking etc. All our instructors have to prove to us that their training technique and personal forklift operations are of a very high standard. We feel that the standards we set for ourselves at TRADEtrucks, put us way ahead of our competition, to ensure your training is always of the highest standard each and every time.

Dont Wait Till Its Too Late, Be Smart, Be Safe and Be Trained BY THE BEST TRADEtrucks.

 NVQs with TRADEtrucks Training Services

Research has shown that training can help businesses to increase efficiency, improve productivity and a lower staff turnover rate. Ensuring your workforce has the skills to compete is vital to business success.

At TRADEtrucks, we understand that setting time aside for training can be difficult. That is why our National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) can help to ensure your employees get the skills they need through relevant, cost-effective training at a time and place to suit you.

An initial skills check, carried out in your workplace by a TRADEtrucks assessor, will identify what they can do already and what they need to learn. This means they are not spending any more time than is necessary on training, they only learn what they need to fill their knowledge gaps.

As it is about them, they will be more personally engaged - and it saves you time too.

Our NVQs are tailored to work in harmony with your business

As assessments are carried out in the workplace and based on real work situations, you know they are relevant to your business and to your employee.

NVQs do not disrupt your workflow

National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are nationally recognised qualifications that demonstrate the skills and knowledge needed to do a job.
